WHO WE CARE FOR

Who Is Specialized Emergency Care For?

Emergency care should fit the person receiving it. Children need gentle, age-appropriate care, adults need fast answers for sudden symptoms, and veterans may need help coordinating with the VA. At The Heights Emergency Room, we treat children and adults 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you are not sure whether a symptom is serious, it is safer to be checked. An ER visit can give you answers quickly, and your physician will explain the results and the next steps.

Emergency Care for Children

Children deserve gentle, thoughtful care when something goes wrong.

Common reasons parents bring children in

Children are seen in a patient room set aside for pediatric patients. If your child has a seizure, severe trouble breathing, or is unresponsive, call 911. See our pediatric ER page for more.

Emergency Care for Adults

Adult emergencies range from injuries to life-threatening conditions.
Our physicians evaluate chest pain, severe headaches and migraines, abdominal pain, and injuries from accidents or the workplace, among many other problems. A board-certified emergency physician is on site 24/7, and on-site lab, digital X-ray, and CT scan help find the cause of your symptoms.
If you need hospital admission or specialist care, our staff arranges ambulance transfer to the hospital of your choice. See our Patient FAQs for more on what to expect.

Emergency Care for Veterans

Veterans can walk in for emergency care at any hour.

Helpful to know

We are unable to accept TRICARE at this time. See our veterans’ emergency care page for more.

Emergency Care for Older Adults

Some symptoms deserve extra attention as we age.
Emergencies in older adults don’t always look the way people expect. A fall, new confusion, sudden weakness, or a fever can signal something serious, and heart problems do not always cause classic chest pain. Please bring a list of your medicines and health conditions so your physician can take them into account.
We are an out-of-network provider for all health plans and are unable to accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time. Self-pay is available, and our billing information page explains how billing works.

QUICK ANSWERS

Specialized Emergency Care Questions, Answered

Does The Heights ER treat children?

Yes. We treat children and adults 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we have a patient room set aside for pediatric patients. A board-certified emergency physician is on site every hour. No appointment is needed. If your child has a seizure or severe trouble breathing, call 911.

What pediatric emergencies can you treat?

Our physicians evaluate common childhood emergencies, including high fever and infections, trouble breathing, broken bones and sprains, cuts, and vomiting or dehydration. Which tests and treatments your child needs depends on the physician’s evaluation. For a child who is unresponsive or having a seizure, call 911 instead of driving.

Do you accept VA benefits or TRICARE?

Veterans are welcome to walk in for emergency care. We are unable to accept TRICARE, Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP at this time, and self-pay is available. The VA asks to be notified within 72 hours of an emergency visit at a non-VA facility, which you can do at 844-724-7842 (TTY 711) or through the VA’s online portal.

What should older adults know before coming to the ER?

Bring a list of your medicines and health conditions, and tell your physician about any recent falls or new confusion. Heart problems in older adults do not always cause classic chest pain, so trouble breathing, weakness, or unusual fatigue are worth checking. We are unable to accept Medicare or Medicaid at this time.

Who is seen first at the ER?

Patients with the most serious problems are always seen first, no matter who arrived earlier. That means a child or adult with a life-threatening emergency will be treated ahead of someone with a minor injury. You can check in online before you arrive, or check in at the front desk when you walk in.
EMERGENCY SAFETY

When Should You Call 911 Instead of Driving?
